Overview
Research consistently demonstrates that individuals with autism spectrum disorders benefit from structured environments. This four-day workshop combines presentations with interactive experiences to demonstrate how and why to implement Structured Teaching strategies grounded in the TEACCH© philosophy and the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Participants will explore the core elements of Structured Teaching and learn how to align them with effective classroom design, implementation across environments, and UDL-based instructional practices. Emphasis is placed on practical strategies that can be immediately applied to support learning in academics, communication, independence, social interaction, leisure activities, behavior, and emotional regulation.
One full day is dedicated to using structure to support behavior and emotional regulation. Designed in a learn–do–share format, this workshop equips participants with concrete tools and resources to effectively plan for both student and staff success.
Who Should Attend
This workshop is designed for special education teachers, general education teachers, administrators, autism consultants, behavior consultants, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, family members, and any other professional working with individuals with autism and/or significant executive functioning challenges.
